Cold Weather and Residential Construction

Colder weather causes delays.  Delays for shipments due to extreme climates in the north are the first source of a delay for a contractor.  If the suppliers can't get the building materials needed in their local warehouse, the builder has to wait.  If the weather is severe or temperatures drop below 32 degrees, the concrete plants will not deliver concrete.  Concrete may not set up correctly if the water in it cannot evaporate properly.  And, colder weather makes it difficult at best for the tradesman to work quickly.  Their hands shake and they shake.  Shaking will a saw turned on just begs for catastrophe.  Be kind and patient with building tradesman.  They have a very hard job due to cold and hot weather.
